Classroom Teaching Observation Tool

 

Based on the “request for the approval of the establishment of technical team for updating the classroom teaching observation tool” to Her excellency Minister of Education Youth and Sport (MOEYS) dated 12 – 13 April 2022, H.E Minister approved the request on 24 April 2022 and delegated competence to INFORDEPE to lead the process of updating classroom observation tool (COT). Based on the approval of H.E Minister of Education Youth and Sports, the team under the leadership of the President and Vice President of INFORDEPE has realized series of workshops to review the classroom observation  tool, and this process has been completed.

 

Therefore, today Monday 26 September 2022, the revision of the classroom observation tool (COT) submitted to the final workshop to validate the COT as well as provide training to the COT users to familiarize themselves as a preparation for the upcoming COT pilot.

 

The validation of the COT refers to the following articles:

 

Article 1: The revision of the COT by technical team from international experts has already completed with 5 domains and 11 competencies, reflected to the ‘International Best Practice’, and therefore comes to the final with no more discussion on the contents of the existing domain and competencies. This COT will be used by the school leaders in the cycle 1 and cycle 2 of Basic Education.

 

Article 2: The COT will be used in the process of piloting to several Basic Education schools to accumulate users’ ideas about Tetun terminologies or ambiguous meaning of domain and competencies that have been written in the revision of the COT.

 

Article 3: The result of this COT is recognized by the MOEYS as a useful instrument in the process of observing teaching in the classroom to improve the quality education through the teachers performance evaluation.
